Alexei Macorin Vivan is the new head of the Energy practice at CGM Advogados. Alexei has been working in the electricity sector for over 24 years, with experience in contracts, corporate transactions, regulatory and litigation. Alexei coordinated the purchase and sale of energy assets. He was involved in contracting public and private financing from foreign and national entities, structuring and implementing hydroelectric generation projects, wind farms and solar farms, self-production, independent production and distributed generation, including drafting, reviewing and negotiating contracts related to the projects (EPC, lease, concession of real surface rights, consortium, cooperative, connection to distribution and transmission systems), obtaining authorizations from ANEEL, due diligence, assessing regulatory risks and issuing legal opinions.

“I am delighted to be joining CGM Advogados to develop the energy and infrastructure area. In addition to the challenge, the fact that CGM is a full-service firm and that all practices of law are led by partners with in-depth legal knowledge, a commitment to technical excellence and proven professional experience, with a focus on client service and satisfaction, were decisive in my decision to move to another firm.” says Alexei.

He holds a doctorate and a bachelor’s degree in law from USP. Chief Executive Officer of the Brazilian Association of Electricity Companies – ABCE. Member of the Advisory Board of the Energy Research Company – EPE (alternate). Vice President of the São Paulo State Energy Industry Union and of the Forum of Electricity Sector Associations – FASE, he was also former vice-president and legal director of electricity companies and director of FIESP’s energy division. Member of CNI’s Infrastructure Council. Author of books, articles and lecturer on energy issues and regulatory law.

“We are very enthusiastic about Alexei joining the firm. His outstanding CV and experience, together with his personal values in line with those of CGM, will be fundamental to building a solid energy practice. His arrival will certainly add not only to our team, but also to the excellent services provided to our clients,” said Adriano Chaves, founding partner of CGM.
